New Volunteer Manager at Truro Cathedral

We are pleased to announce that Susie Merelie has been appointed as the new volunteer manager at Truro Cathedral alongside her existing role as HR administrator.

Susie has been with the cathedral team since September 2022, initially starting as operations administrator, covering maternity leave. After a brief hiatus, Susie returned as HR administrator.

Truro Cathedral provides over 120 services, events, and learning activities every month. The cathedral volunteers have an invaluable role as part of the cathedral team in contributing to the smooth operation of the cathedral and being part of the warm welcoming atmosphere. Susie’s new role at Truro Cathedral includes ensuring volunteer team members continue to flourish in a positive environment with us while demonstrating best practices.

Susie says “I’m delighted to be appointed as the new volunteer manager for the cathedral. Our cathedral volunteers offer so much more than their time and I’m looking forward to ensuring this group is valued and continues to establish their integral part in the cathedral community.

“My time in employment has always involved working with people - whether with visitors at tourist attractions, students in university halls, volunteers and service users in charities or school children on outdoor adventures.  I consider myself a very optimistic, supportive and encouraging person, all qualities I hope will be welcomed by the cathedral volunteers.”

I’m also hoping my love of Christmas, passion for the outdoors and obsession with being organised will spark some good conversations!”

Congratulations from the cathedral team to Susie and we look forward to working with her in her new role.
