Prayer for Peace

As we mark the anniversary of the violence in Israel and Gaza, the escalating situation in The Middle East is of great concern and very distressing. Ordinary men, women and children are being displaced and live in fear for their lives, losing homes, jobs, security and safety. Children should be living their lives in peace, enjoying school and family life not living under the sound and threat of missiles and bombs. I invite you to pray for peace, for an immediate ceasefire and for a commitment to building community cohesion.

We pray daily for the peace and well-being of all nations in the many services that take place in Truro Cathedral.

Prayer for Peace

Almighty God who is the author of all peace and concord, we pray for the peace and health of the nations of the world.

We pray for an end to all war and violence.

We hold up to your great throne of Grace those who this day, are fleeing missiles, bullets and bombs.

We pray for those seeking a place to call home, where they can rest their heads in safety rather in fear for their lives.

We ask your blessing upon those displaced by war, oppression and dictatorship.

We humbly ask that you deconstruct all corrupt and abusive regimes, political, military or religious.

Give world leaders hearts of compassion and care for the global community of which we are all part and for which we are all responsible.

Give us hearts of peace and a desire to be peace-seekers.

Pour down your wisdom upon us and aid us in creating peace in our own families, our communities and in the world today.

We ask all of this in the name of the Prince of Peace,

Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Saviour.

Amen.
