Statement: Suspension of Clergy member at Truro Cathedral
Following a safeguarding complaint, relating to a vulnerable adult, the Reverend Canon Alan Bashforth has been suspended pending an independent safeguarding assessment. Suspension is to facilitate the investigation of the complaint and to safeguard the complainant. The period of the suspension is up to three months. Arrangements have been made with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team to support the cathedral’s safeguarding work during this period.
The work of the cathedral goes on. Daily worship continues in the usual pattern. We continue to offer a place of sacred space and common ground, welcoming all to a place where people of all faiths and none might find themselves at peace.
