Truro Cathedral Limited
The cathedral has experienced significant financial challenges with the cathedral’s shop and café (Truro Cathedral Limited) and the subsequent changes were announced in February this year:
Sadly, as the ongoing financial challenges continue, the difficult decision has been made by the Truro Cathedral Chapter to close Truro Cathedral Limited (TCL) at the end of this year.
Following an internal announcement notice from the beginning of November about the future of TCL, the consultation process with affected team members has now concluded. All affected team members have confirmed outcomes. I am grateful to them all for their support and patience. The response from the congregation and other stakeholders has been one of sadness, support and understanding.
One member of the team has been offered redeployment; however, the remaining team members have either left for other opportunities, or been made redundant, and/or moved into the cathedral’s events team. The last day that Common Grounds will be open will be Saturday 23 December.
Thereafter TCL will enter a dormant state at the end of its financial year, 31st December. Over the coming months business modelling and planning will begin for what a future, profitable hospitality and retail offer may look like. I look forward to sharing these plans once they are settled upon.
