Truro Cathedral to receive £16K from the Cathedral Music Trust
Truro Cathedral is one of the recipients of a grant from the Cathedral Music Trust who have awarded funds to support 36 choral foundations across the UK. Truro Cathedral is to receive a fantastic £16,000 to assist with the funding of the music department. You can read more about the Cathedral Music Trust award on their website.
We are extremely grateful to receive this award and thank the Cathedral Music Trust. Christopher Gray, director of music here at the cathedral says
"Like all cathedral directors of music at the moment, I live in fear of the difficult decisions that lie ahead as we emerge from the pandemic, down but not out. The biggest concern is that we are forced to make cuts that do irreparable damage, and that we can’t get back what we lose once our fragile ecosystem is upset. CMT’s grant has taken the immediate pressure off so that we have a chance to weather the storm and buy the cathedral finances time to recover to the point where they can again sustain the choral tradition that is part of the beating heart of the place. These targeted funds will protect the most vulnerable parts of our music programme and may prove to be vital in enabling Truro Cathedral Choir to flourish for future generations."
