Lady Day
Lady Day - the Feast of the Annunciation - is celebrated worldwide. It commemorates the visit of the archangel Gabriel to the Blessed Virgin Mary, during which he announced to her that she would be the mother of Jesus. The date is exactly nine months before Christmas Day!
You are warmly invited to join members of the Mothers’ Union from all over the Diocese of Truro for a special Lady Day service led Acting Precentor Sue Wallace and Revd Nicki Farr, followed by coffee in the Chapter House. The service will include welcoming new members and leaders of the Mothers’ Union in Cornwall.
Founded in 1876, the Mothers' Union is a worldwide Christian movement with 4 million members. Branches hold regular meetings with prayer, activities, socialising and refreshments. Locally and internationally, the Union campaigns on issues that affect women and families - poverty, injustice and gender-based violence, for example. Members also choose how their branch can provide some practical support to families in their own area.
