Bio
Michael Hoeg studied at the Royal Academy of Music under Martindale Sidwell, Eric Thiman, Thurston Dart and Eric Fenby, later going on to London University and Trinity College, Dublin. After further studies with Martin Neary and Timothy Farrell and after holding the appointment of Head of Music at Queen’s School, Bushey, he was appointed Organist and Master of the Choristers at Londonderry Cathedral in 1972. In 1980, he moved to Llandaff where he was Assistant Organist at the cathedral and director of music at the cathedral school. He has toured Holland, Sweden, Guernsey, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, America, France, the Czech Republic, Italy and Singapore as solo organist, pianist, conductor and accompanist.
He has made many recordings and has written books on extra-curricular music in schools and on the music of Londonderry Cathedral. Among his past pupils are conductor David Jones, Edward Jones, Director of Music at Harvard College Chapel, USA and Charlotte Church. He has been given the Archbishop of Wales Award for Church Music and was awarded the MBE for his work at Llandaff.

The series runs from March to October and each recital lasts around 45 minutes. There is no charge to attend or listen to these concerts, and the cathedral only asks that if you are able, you consider making a donation - the income generated by the generosity of both the audience and artists (who play for free) directly supports music at the cathedral and the ability to continue to offer such community events.
Truro Cathedral is a registered charity number 1207821 and relies on public donations to meet costs. Truro Cathedral welcomes regular or single donations from its supporters.
