She also serves the Candler School of Theology at Emory University as chapel organist. Previously, she was organ scholar at Peterborough Cathedral (2019-2020) and Truro Cathedral (2016-2017). A native of Chicago, Käthe was launched into church music from age eight as a chorister of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Evanston, Illinois. She began her organ studies a few years later with James Brown at the Music Institute of Chicago. For both undergraduate and graduate study, she attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where she studied organ, harpsichord, and improvisation with William Porter and Edoardo Bellotti, as well as organ with David Higgs for her Master’s degree. Käthe has performed for the nationally-syndicated American radio program Pipedreams Live!, and she has performed in venues around America and the UK including St. Thomas Church, NYC; the cathedrals in Atlanta, Nashville, and San Francisco; Clare College Chapel, St. Edmundsbury Cathedral, Peterborough Cathedral, and Truro Cathedral. She has received several awards, including Eastman’s Gerald Barnes Award for Excellence in Pipe Organ (2013), the inaugural VanDelinder Prizes in Liturgical Organ Skills at Christ Church, Rochester (2014 & 2015), and first place in the West Chester University International Organ Competition (2015). She was recently featured as a performer at the American Guild of Organists’ National Convention in Seattle, Washington (2022), at the Anglican Association of Musicians’ National Convention in Dallas, Texas (2023), and earlier this summer at the Reuter Organ Festival at the cathedral in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
